Banff Horseback Riding

Back in the 19th century, the Rocky Mountains were gruelling to navigate on foot.

So when fur traders first began to explore Western Canada, horses offered the most efficient way to explore the craggy, steep terrain of this area. Our Banff horseback riding tours are designed to give you a taste of what these brave settlers experienced more than 200 years ago.

Cross emerald-green rivers backed by soaring peaks, climb up Sulphur Mountain around the Windy Knoll viewpoint, learn how to lasso like a cowboy, and keep energy levels up with a hearty BBQ cooked over an open fire.

First-time riders can gain experience in the saddle on our scenic one-hour rides. But if you want a longer trip, our Backcountry Horseback Riding Vacations offer multi-day pioneer-style adventures.
