From snow-capped mountains and sparkling waterfalls to roaring rivers and thick alpine forests, this trip takes you from the bustling Banff town-site to the peaceful wilderness just a few miles away.

See the renowned Rimrock Resort Hotel, and then trek down to the valley and lead your horse across the lively Spray River. Water and a light snack will be provided during a short rest break.

After a well deserved rest, you’ll cross the Spray River once more and ride along the base of iconic Mount Rundle. Here you’ll enjoy stunning views across the valley and of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, also known as Canada’s ‘Castle in the Rockies’, before passing by the immaculate fairways of the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course. The best parts of the tour for most people include the following:

1

Bow Falls

Breathe in the pine-spiced mountain air as you approach the roaring Bow Falls.

2

Cross the Spray River

The most unique feature of this trip is crossing the tranquil Spray River. On hotter days, your horse may even decide to cool itself off by splashing water onto its belly.

3

Sulphur Mountain

Climb two thirds of the way up Sulphur Mountain along wooded trails past the famous Rimrock Resort Hotel and underneath the gondola.

4

Mount Rundle

On the descent you’ll ride along the base of Mount Rundle to the Bow Falls and cross the Spray River once more.

The tour is a four hour horseback ride. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your tour start time.
The tour is a four-hour horseback ride past Bow Falls, across the Spray River, two thirds of the way up Sulphur Mountain and along the base of Mount Rundle. You will be provided with a brief riding instruction, a helmet, water and a light snack, a friendly horse, and lead and tail guides riding at each end of the small group.
Please meet at the Banff Springs Corrals on Spray Avenue in Banff. The corrals are located before the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and behind the tennis courts, and are approximately a five minute drive or a 20 minute walk from downtown Banff.
Please ensure that you arrive 30 minutes before the ride is scheduled to depart.
You must wear sturdy, closed toed shoes enclosed to the ankle and long pants are best for riding. Please note that sandals of any kind are not permitted. Helmets are provided and are mandatory for all riders and mosquito repellent is highly recommended.
No experience is necessary and if you’ve never been riding before then we’ll be sure to pair you with the perfect horse so you can enjoy a comfortable ride. Our guides will also provide a brief riding instruction prior to the ride.
Guests cannot bring a backpack on the horse.
Horseback rides run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Please do not wear a rain poncho, as they can flap in the wind and spook the horses.
There is a 24 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change/cancel or refund your booking up to 24 hours outside your booked tour (up to 7 days for group bookings).
Tips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated. If you think your guide did a wonderful job and would like to indicate that with a tip, it will be graciously accepted.
