Where does the Evening Wildlife Tour go?+
The tour is a paved road tour and there are a number of routes this tour follows, depending on wildlife activity.
Is there a lot of walking involved on the Evening Wildlife Tour?+
This is not a walking tour and most of the tour will be spent on the bus, but there are opportunities for you to step off the bus to take in scenic views around Banff. However, when in the presence of the wildlife we do not step off the bus unless the guide believes it is safe.
What animals can you see on the Evening Wildlife Tour?+
It is possible to see the following in the park: white tail deer, mule deer, elk, black bears, grizzly bears, chipmunks, eagles, coyotes, wolves, osprey, ducks, Canadian geese, squirrels, big horn sheep, mountain goats. Unfortunately we can never guarantee seeing any animals, but our guides try their best to take you to areas we know animals frequent.
Can we pet the animals on the Evening Wildlife Tour?+
No, as all wild animals experience stress when crowded by humans, which is hard on the animal and dangerous for us. Discover Banff Tours adheres strictly to the recommendations set out by Parks Canada for safe wildlife viewing.
What should I bring with me on the Wildlife Tour?+
Just your camera and warm clothes, plus any refreshments you may like.
What is the cancellation policy on the Wildlife tour?+
There is a 24 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change, cancel, or refund your booking up to 24 hours prior to your tour (or up to 7 days prior for group bookings).
Should I tip my guide on the Evening Wildlife Tour?+
Tips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated. If you think your guide did a wonderful job and would like to indicate that with a tip, it will be graciously accepted.
How long is the Discover Lake Louise and Moraine Tour?+
The tour begins at 1:00pm and brings you back to Banff around 5:15pm, and is approximately 4.25 hours.
What does the Discover Lake Louise and Moraine Lake Tour include?+
This small group tour includes transportation from most hotels in Banff on a guided bus tour to see two of the area’s most famous lakes. The tour includes a sightseeing stop along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway and 30 minute stops at both Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, fresh water, a maple cookie snack and hands on interpretive tools. Please note that the access road to Moraine Lake is closed in winter each year from early October until late May. When the road is closed tours will not include Moraine Lake and instead spend one hour at Lake Louise. Please enquire at the time of booking to confirm the current season dates that this tour will visit Moraine Lake.
How long are the stops at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake?+
We will be at each lake for 30 minutes. Please note that the access road to Moraine Lake is closed in winter each year from early October until late May, and so early and late season tours will not include Moraine Lake and instead spend one hour at Lake Louise. Please enquire at the time of booking to confirm the current season dates that this tour will visit Moraine Lake.
I want to see turquoise lakes, when do the lakes thaw?+
Lake Louise usually thaws in June in June and freezes in November. The lake is beautiful at anytime of year, but if you are set on seeing the famous blue-green water then the best time to visit is from late June to early September.
Is there a lot of walking on the Lake Louise and Moraine Lake Tour?+
There will be at least one stop along the Bow Valley Parkway, as well as 30 minute stops at Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. At every stop you will have the opportunity to get off the bus and stretch your legs and all of the viewpoints are a short walk.
Where is our pick up and drop off from for these tours?+
We pick up from most hotels in Banff, and you can select your preferred pick-up location during the booking process. For drop offs, our guide will ask you on the way back where you would like to be dropped off either in town or at your hotel.
How can I join these tours if I'm not staying in Banff?+
You are welcome to meet us at any of our pick up locations in Banff to join the tour, and there is free parking at the Banff Train Station in Banff for up to nine hours. Guests parking here can select their pickup location as the Banff Train Station (in front of Main Entrance). If you would like longer parking, there is free parking at the Fenlands Centre for 12 hours, and then the closest pickup location will be the Banff Train Station (in front of Main Entrance). Most guests choose to self-drive into Banff, although please note that you will need to find parking in Banff that exceeds the duration of each tour. Please refer to the Town of Banff website for general parking information, or the banffparking.ca website for live parking availability. For guests staying in Canmore, you can also use the Roam bus service and disembark at the Banff High School. The closest pick up point to the Banff High School is across the road at the Elk and Avenue Hotel.

  • Early and late season road closures will limit access to Moraine Lake (until late May and from early October). When the access road to Moraine Lake is closed, the tour will not visit Moraine Lake and will instead spend 1 hour at Lake Louise.
  • A photo ID may be required for identity verification.
