Big or small, there are lots of animals to see in Jasper! Elk, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, foxes, coyotes, wolves, and moose are just a sample of Jasper’s many wild mountain animals.

Plus, you’ll learn all about the ways these animals contribute to the rich diversity of the National Park. The guides are well versed in the history, geology, and ecology of the area and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

As the bus travels through the Athabasca Valley you will be shown some of the park’s most beautiful scenery, so have your camera ready to capture some amazing photos of the highlights of your visit. This tour is the perfect way to spend an afternoon and your best opportunity to see the wildlife of Jasper National Park.

Bus Tour

The Wildlife Discovery Tour is a van tour with minimal walking. Photos are usually taken from the inside the vehicle or on the ground at a safe distance from the animals.

Jasper is home to mountain animals including elk, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, foxes, coyotes, wolves, and moose. This tour is your best opportunity to see the wildlife of Jasper National Park!

This is a 3 hour tour. Please note that the start time changes throughout the season in line with the sunset.
The three-hour tour includes transportation from most hotels in Jasper on a guided bus tour to look for local wildlife.
The tour picks up from most hotels in Jasper and you can select your preferred pick-up location during the booking process.
The tour passes through the Athabasca Valley, and the selected route is at the discretion of your guide.

The guides are trained to seek out all of the park’s most iconic wildlife, but the types of animals seen depends on the season, the time of day, and the weather. Photos are usually taken from the inside the vehicle or on the ground at a safe distance from the animals.
Outdoor clothing and walking shoes are recommended for this tour.
There is a 48 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change/cancel or refund your booking up to 48 hours outside your booked tour (up to 7 days for group bookings).
Tips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated. If you think your guide did a wonderful job and would like to indicate that with a tip, it will be graciously accepted.

  • While the natural habitat around Jasper is conducive to animal sightings, animal viewing is not guaranteed and depends largely on the season, the time of day, and the weather.
  • Kindly note that the selected route is at the discretion of your driver/guide.
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Please note that this tour requires a minimum of 4 participants.
