Perfect for experienced snowmobile drivers, you’ll route find, boondock, climb and carve in deep mountain powder and learn new riding skills and safety tips on this high-performance backcountry tour.

After a full safety briefing and machine orientation, head out on your 600cc 120HP snowmobile with your professional guide to one of eight advanced riding areas. The Purcell’s offer powder-filled meadows, glades and high alpine, snow-laden frozen lakes and slopes with plenty of opportunity for carving your sled in powder, busting donuts and climbing.

This full-day snowmobiling adventure takes you to incredible scenic view points overlooking the Purcell Mountains while also learning new riding skills and safety tips.

The tour departs from Toby Creek Adventures’ operations base near Invermere, British Columbia, please arrive at 9:00am. The tour runs for approximately 5 hours, returning to the base at around 2pm.

For those taking transport, the tour begins with pick-up in Canmore at 6:40am and Banff at 7:00am – 7:20am and the return bus usually arrives back in Banff/Canmore at approximately 5:00pm – 5:30pm. Delays are possible, please allow sufficient buffer time for evening arrangements.

Your tour includes snacks, water and a BBQ or bagged lunch, optional transportation from Banff and Canmore, experienced and friendly guides, riding instruction, a 600cc 120+ HP high-performance snowmobile and helmets, boots and snowmobile suits. Collision insurance is available as an optional addition on the day of the tour.
Complimentary transportation is available from most hotels in Banff, as well as most hotels in Canmore in the main town centre and the Canmore McDonald’s parking lot. If you require transport, please ensure that this is added when booking.
For guests self-driving, please meet at the Toby Creek Adventures’ operations base at 9:00am, which is located at Panorama Mountain Village near Invermere, British Columbia, approximately 2 hours south-west of Banff. Detailed driving directions will be provided in your booking confirmation.
You should wear your own warm winter gear (i.e ski wear, ski gloves, hats, boots, goggles), however they can also provide snowmobile suits and boots if needed. A CSA approved safety helmet will also be provided. A major credit card is required as a security deposit.
This tour is an intermediate / advanced snowmobiling tour, and can only be booked by those that have previous snowmobiling experience. If you haven’t driven a snowmobile before, then we recommend the Paradise Basin Tour.
Your guide will select from eight advanced riding areas based on snow and weather conditions, group ability and operational considerations.
All bookings include a 600cc 120+ HP snowmobile. Guests can upgrade to a 800/850cc 170 HP snowmobile) for an additional cost. Please contact us for more information on upgrade options.
There is a 48 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change/cancel or refund your booking up to 48 hours outside your booked tour (up to 7 days for group bookings).
Tips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated. If you think your guide did a wonderful job and would like to indicate that with a tip, it will be graciously accepted.

  • This tour is only available to be booked by those with previous snowmobile driving experience.
  • Minimum age for a driver: 16 years.
  • A standard release of liability is required for all participants. A parent or guardian must complete a liability release for persons under 19 years of age.
  • A credit card is required on the day for the security deposit.
  • Please note that transport requires a minimum of 4 participants, please call the day prior to confirm your tour if it includes transport.
