Q: How long does the tour go for?
A: The tour runs for approximately 45 minutes.

Q: Are there any age restrictions?
A: There are no age restrictions for this tour and children under 3 are free. However on the public sleigh ride children under 3 are not guaranteed a seat (they may have to sit on your lap).

Q: Will you pick me up from my hotel for this tour?
A: We do not offer pick ups for the sleigh rides, however the location of the sleigh rides is conveniently located close to downtown Banff.

Q: What times do the tours run?
A: The sleigh rides operate every hour on the hour from 10am to 8pm, seven days a week. We recommend that you get to the Warner Stables 15 minutes prior to your schedule departure time.

Q: What do I need to wear on the tour?
A: We recommend that everyone dresses warm with mitts, hats and boots. You are outside in the cold for 45 minutes so be sure to have multiple layers and a thick winter jacket.

Q:Where does the tour go?
A:The tour follows a set circuit adjacent to the Warner Stables.

Q: What kinds of things will I see on this tour?
A: The circuit is at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, so you will get great views of Banff’s surrounding mountains including Sulphur Mountain and Mount Norquay. If you are lucky you may even spot some local wildlife including deer or elk

Q: What do we sit on? Is it hay or a proper seat?
A: The sleigh is a traditional wood construction style, with wooden bench seats. You do not sit on hay.

Q: Is the sleigh covered or open?
A: The sleigh is “open top” so you need to make sure you dress nice and warm.

Q: How many horses pull the sleigh?
A: Typically there are two horses pulling the sleigh for a public and group sleigh ride. For the private couple sleigh ride there is just one horse.

Q: What kind of horses are they?
A: The horses that pull the sleigh are a variety of heavy horse breeds, including Percheron horses.

Q: Does it smell of horse poo?
A: The horses may poo as you go along but the fresh air will help remove the smell.

Q: Should/Can I bring my own blanket or are they provided?
A: You are provided with a blanket, but if you are concerned about being cold you can bring one along for yourself as well.

Q: What happens if the tour is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions?
A: If your tour is cancelled due to extreme weather, we will work with you to reschedule. If this is not possible we will offer a refund.

Q: Is there an opportunity to pet the horses?
A: Yes, you certainly can pet the horses if you wish. They love a good scratch on the cheek.

Q: Is any food/drink provided on the tour?
A: Food and drink is not provided with this tour.

Q: Can we bring our own food and drink to consume on the sleigh?
A: Yes if you would like to bring your own food and drink you are welcome to consume this during the sleigh ride.

Q: Can I ride the horses?
A: No, unfortunately you cannot ride the horses as part of this tour. If you are interested in horse riding we do offer horse-riding tours in the summer.

Q: Can I feed the horses?
A: No unfortunately you cannot feed the horses though you are welcome to pet them.

Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: No you are not able to bring your animals on this tour as it may scare the horses.

Q: Where is the meeting place for the tour?
A: The tour departs from Warner Stables. This is located at the end of Sundance Road off Cave Avenue. This is approximately 5 minutes drive/20 minutes walk from downtown Banff.

Q: How many people will be on the sleigh with me?
A: There are two different sleigh sizes, a 12 seater and 18 seater. The sleigh may or may not be full on your tour.

Q: Can my child join us on the private sleigh ride?
A: No. Unfortunately children or babies aren’t allowed on the private sleigh ride as liquor is provided.
