A vast frozen lake surrounded by sparkling snow and an amphitheatre of snow-dusted mountain peaks – Lake Louise is postcard-perfect in winter.

Lake Louise transforms into a real life snow globe in the winter that has to be seen to be believed. On this full day tour you’ll have plenty of time to explore on your own: borrow our snowshoes and explore the many trails, wander the shoreline and take in the iconic views, and warm up with a hot drink or a leisurely lunch at the elegant Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel.

To make the most of your visit, rent a pair of ice skates and skate on the frozen lake – an authentic Canadian experience! From late January to mid March you can even skate around an impressive ice castle and ice sculptures. Horse drawn sleigh rides run daily along the lakeside trail in traditionally styled sleighs with cozy upholstered seats and blankets to keep you warm. Lake Louise is also the best location to take in some dogsledding (advanced bookings required).

Pick up is between 10am and 10:15am in Banff and you will have just over 4 hours at Lake Louise before returning to Banff at around 5pm. Please allow 7 hours in total for this tour.
The full-day tour includes transportation from most hotels in Banff on a guided bus tour to Lake Louise along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway. The tour includes 4 hours of free time at Lake Louise, hands on interpretive tools and use of our snowshoes for a snowshoe sampler.
We pick up from most hotels in Banff, and you can select your preferred pick-up location during the booking process. For drop offs, our guide will ask you on the way back where you would like to be dropped off either in town or at your hotel.
Your lunch is not included, and so you might want to bring something with you. Alternatively you can purchase food from the Deli at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
Snowshoeing is a form of hiking where snowshoes are worn over your boots to distribute your weight over the snow. It’s way more fun and less tiring than walking in regular shoes through deep snow!

There are a lot of snowshoeing trails around Lake Louise and our guide will bring snowshoes for you to use and instruct you on how to put them on and use them correctly. Then you are free to roam around and explore the area.

There are lots of winter activities to do once you get to Lake Louise. If snowshoeing isn’t your thing, you can hire some ice skates or cross country skis from the Chateau (typically available from mid December to mid April) or simply admire the impressive ice castle and ice sculptures on the lake (typically from late January to early March).

You can go on a horse drawn sleigh ride that follows the lakeside trail beneath the Victoria Glacier (approximately mid December to early April) or you can explore even further and join a dogsled tour that runs along the Continental Divide to British Columbia (advance reservations required, typically operates from December to early April).

There is a 48 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change/cancel or refund your booking up to 48 hours outside your booked tour (up to 7 days for group bookings).
Tips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated. If you think your guide did a wonderful job and would like to indicate that with a tip, it will be graciously accepted.
