Whitewater Rafting from Banff and Canmore Alberta

I've always wanted to go white water rafting in Banff and The Canadian Rockies, so I booked myself on a Chinook tour to raft Kananaskis River. With the tour booked I was excited and ready to go.
 
The Half day trip started off by me being picked up in Banff by the Chinook Rafting shuttle bus, and wasn’t that an awesome sight! The bus was bright blue and on the side of it there was a big cartoon drawing of people in a raft. I loved it. It showed straight away that this company liked to have fun!
 
The 45 minute drive to the rafting site just outside of Canmore flew by and the scenery along the way was beautiful. When we arrived the guides gave us all the gear that we needed, gave us a thorough safety talk, and then took us down to raft the Kananaskis River!
 
Now, I had been warned that I would get wet, but I hadn't prepared myself for just how wet! Within the first 2 minutes we were rafting down a small rapid and I had already been sprayed with water! Later on down the river there was an area where the guide gave everyone the option to slide out of the raft and swim beside it, so again…very wet!
 
My favorite part of the trip was when we 'surfed' the rapids. This meant that the guide took us down the rapid once and then we went back into the same rapid and stayed there (surfed it) for as long as possible. It was something I had never experienced and it was so much fun! I couldn't wipe the grin off my face (which showed on the professional photos that were taken).
 
I had such a great day! It was one of the best whitewater rafting trips I’ve had! The guides were really experienced and knew how to raft the river to get the maximum fun out of the rapids. There were no kids in my raft that day, but if there had been I’m sure they would’ve loved it just as much as the ‘big kids’. There was definitely enough excitement to suit the young and old.
 
In the afternoon I went horseback riding in Banff and this combined to be a fantastic day of Banff activities!
