Grassi Lakes Half Day Hike

This moderately difficult walk leads to two beautiful lakes honouring Lawrence Grassi, a local coal-miner.   Grassi contributed countless volunteer hours to trail building in the area.   Views along the trail provide an excellent perspective to the Three Sisters resort lands.   Formerly a coal mine, these lands are now being developed for resident and vacation housing, golf courses, and hotels, and include G8 investments aimed at wildlife corridor protection.   The quaint lakes at the trail’s end are deep turquoise and surrounded by cliffs made of ancient coral reefs.  This trail is a local favourite and well worth a visit.
