Discover the Glacier Trail

A full day sightseeing tour that travels through a landscape carved by glaciers and opened by pioneers. The Icefields Parkway is rated as one of the most scenic highways in the world. Marvel at glaciers remaining from the last ice age while you hear stories of early explorers who opened the valleys. Enjoy an alpine picnic before visiting the Athabasca Glacier and Columbia Icefields Centre. Join an Ice Explorer! Tour ($38.00 value INCLUDED in cost of tour) onto the glacier or explore the interpretive centre and surroundings.

 
Tour itinerary and highlights:
The Icefields Parkway is one of the most scenic drives in the world. This tour will stop at the classic viewpoints as well as some of our favorites.  If the group and weather are favorable, a short hike to Mistaya canyon can also be included.
Your tour will stop at:
Crowfoot Glacier One of the day's many up-close glacier views 5 min
Peyto Lake The classic emerald green jewel of the Canadian Rockies 20 min
Mistaya Canyon Weather and group dependant.  A dramatic example of the sculpting power of water 30 min
Saskatchewan Crossing A rest stop/coffee break and home to Canada's largest postcard display 10 min
Mountain Picnic lunch

Enjoy a hearty lunch with your choice of sandwich at a scenic stop along the Icefields Parkway. 

Sandwich choices are:

Roast Beef on Mini Baguette - Creamy mustard dressing, cheddar, lettuce and roast beef.

Roast Turkey on Foccacia - Cranberries, lettuce, mayonnaise, roast turkey.

Veggie on Ciabatta - Lettuce, baby green, cucumber, shredded carrot, red pepper, red onion, and raspberry vinaigrette.

Fruit, snack bars, potato chips, juice, maple cookies and bottled water are also included.

Cirrus Mountain Look at the steep climb from the weeping wall and scope the avalanche slopes for wildlife. 10 min
Bridal Veil Falls Fantastic view over the Icefields Parkway and the falls. 5 min
Columbia Icefields The destination.  Venture onto the Athabasca Glacier on the Ice Explorer! and visit the interpretive centre. 2 hrs
Bow Lake The headwaters of the mighty Bow River. 10 min
